Islamabad—It was a special evening in Islamabad as the Moroccan ambassador to Pakistan Mohammed Rida El Fassi has put up a grand show to celebrate the 13th Anniversary of the Enthronement of His Majesty King Mohammed V1 on Monday.
Despite a busy life in Pakistan and the capital due to Ramadhan ul Mubarak, a cross section of Pakistani society thronged the festivity where the government was represented by Dr. Farooq Sattar, Minister for Overseas Pakistanis as the Chief Guest. Members of diplomatic corps, particularly ambassadors from Muslim countries, parliamentarians, ex-diplomats, ex-bureaucrats, Lt. Gen (retired) Sahabzada Yaqub Ali Khan, Governor of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa barrister Masood Kausar, businessmen, mediamen and friends of Morocco were present in the celebrations which lasted over two hours. The ambassador and his colleagues greeted each and every guest warmly. On arrival of the Chief Guest Dr. Farooq Sattar, national anthems of both the countries were played. Later the ambassador was joined by his guests in honour in cutting the ceremonial cake amidst applause from the participants. The celebrations were blend of culture of Pakistan and Morocco. The ambassador and his colleagues were attired in traditional dresses giving the festivity a new colour. The screen in the hall was beaming socio-economic development of this North African country which attained independence after a memorable struggle. The Moroccan food was a treat to taste which fascinated the guests in the vast hall of a local hotel. Since his arrival in Pakistan, Mohammed Rida El Fassi has been giving his hundred percent to bring both the countries closer to each other. His efforts have borne fruit as the relations between Islamabad and Rabat are progressing in economic and commercial fields. People to people contacts and friendly exchanges will result in cementing further ties between both the Muslim States. These two Muslim countries have identity of views on regional and world affairs. Their support to each other has helped to strengthen regional and world peace. The national referendum in Morocco last year has ushered in a new era of democracy, freedom of expression, liberties, parliamentary and social monarchy. The sixth constitution emerged from the popular support last year has put the country on path of progress and stability.
