Nora Ali, a young Moroccan American professional and a member of MoroccoTomorrow has been chosen to represent the U.S./ Moroccan community at tomorrow’s Throne Day festivities at the royal Palace in Rabat, Morocco. This initiative was organized through the Ministry of Moroccans Living Abroad, which brought Ms. Ali to Rabat last weekend to participate together with other representatives from the U.K., France, the Netherlands, and many other nations in conferences that took place there on Saturday July 28th and Sunday July 29th. These conferences provided those attending with a unique opportunity to meet senior government officials, including the Minister in charge of Moroccans Living Abroad, while providing a platform for discussion of conditions of the estimated five million Moroccan ex-patriots and discussing issues and concerns of those living beyond Morocco’s borders. King Mohammed VI has extended a royal welcome to these official representatives of Moroccans now living abroad and expressed his gratitude for the cultural, economic, and social contributions they have made to the Kingdom.

An important part of the Moroccan economy is based on tourism and Moroccans returning annually to visit their families represent a significant share of this market sector. Part of the discussion at the weekend conferences explored the economic impact of overseas Moroccans providing financial assistance to their families in Morocco, developing real estate and other investment and business projects, and assisting in job creation which remains a major priority within Morocco’s domestic economy.
