The top three bidders in Morocco’s tender for the 170-MW Noor PV 1 project are Saudi Arabian companies Alfanar, Acwa Power and Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV), which is part of the Abdul Latif Jameel group.

Morocco’s agency for solar energy MASEN has opened the bids on May 23.

The 170-MW Noor PV I scheme includes three sites, named Noor Ouarzazate, Noor Laayoune and Noor Boujdour. Financial close is targeted in the fourth quarter of this year. Bidders are competing to develop the projects and operate the photovoltaic (PV) plants under the independent power producer (IPP) regime.

In December MASEN announced that 20 firms had been pre-qualified to participate in the tender.
