The Dean at the World Postal Congress is the man in charge of managing receptions and proposes the vote of thanks.
Antari El Jalali, former president and CEO of EMS Chronopost of Poste Maroc (Morocco Post) is a widely respected official in Postal Union circles.

“Being the highest conclave of the international postal fraternity receptions are hosted by delegations daily during the Congress and I need to be there at every function to propose a vote of thanks, both to the organisers and to those invited,” said El Jalali.
Every day a number of such receptions are held by participating delegations, and audiences vary at every meeting. “But I need to be present wherever and whenever a meeting is organised and thank everyone for being there,” he said.
A doctorate in telecommunication engineering, El Jalali also served as director of telecommunications at Morocco’s National Office of Posts and Telecommunications before he retired last year.
El Jalali complimented hosts Q-Post for entrusting him with the job. “I felt so honoured when I was assigned to thank the huge gathering at the start of the Congress on September 24, where Q-Post CEO Abdurahamn Ali al-Aqli was chosen chairman of the Postal Congress for the next four years,’ he said.
Next week, El Jalali is facing a tighter schedule with a number of ministerial delegations expected from different parts of the world. On the cards are the World Postal Day celebrations on October 9 and the election of new UPU Director General the next day.
