Madrid – The People’s Party (PP), which won the recently held general elections in Spain, welcomed on Monday the conduct of Morocco’s legislative elections.

The conservative PP congratulated in a statement the Moroccan people for the voter turnout as well as the Justice and Development Party (PJD), which took 107 of the parliament’s 395 seats in the parliamentary elections, the first following the adoption of a new constitution.

The Spanish Party also congratulated other parties that won seats in parliament.

PP highlighted the good relations with the PJD representatives since 2005, saying that the democratic commitment of the PJD will be beneficial to the Moroccan people and the development of good relations between Morocco and Spain.

The PP, which welcomed the democratic reforms outlined by HM King Mohammed VI, said that “Spain and Morocco are more than neighbourly countries.”

The Spanish party also said it is convinced that the incoming governments of Morocco and Spain will continue working together, in an atmosphere of cooperation and friendliness, to address the numerous challenges and shared opportunities.
