Siemens Energy to supply turbines for two wind farms in Morocco

Siemens Energy has secured a contract from Nareva Holding to supply a total of 44 turbines for the Haouma and Foum El Oued wind energy projects in Morocco.

The company will be responsible for the delivery, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines and the order also includes a five-year service contract for each project.

The Haouma wind farm will be built in northern Morocco and will feature 22 units of Siemens SWT-2.3-93 turbine.

The Foum El Oued wind farm will be built in the municipality of Laayoune in southern Morocco and will include 22 units of SWT-2.3-101 turbine.

The two wind power plants with a combined capacity of 100MW are expected to commence commercial operation in 2013.

According to Siemens, the Moroccan government has set the target of raising the contribution of renewable energy to 20% of national electricity consumption by 2020.
