Power Company Taqa Morocco’s Full-Year Net Profit Doubles

Moroccan power company Taqa Morocco, owned by Abu Dhabi National Energy Co , reported 2014 net profit attributable to shareholders up 102 percent to 799 million Moroccan dirham ($83.6 million), citing production from new units.

Total revenue jumped 50.2 percent to 7.41 billion dirhams, a statement from the company said.

Taqa Morocco runs the largest coal-fired power plant in the Middle East and North Africa. It is also the first independent power producer (IPP) in Morocco, supplying 38 per cent of the kingdom’s electricity. ($1 = 9.5620 Moroccan dirham) (Reporting By Aziz El Yaakoubi; Editing by David Goodman)
