Andrew Glen was appointed General Manager of Braemar Golf Maroc and has been in his post since April. Andrew, who is originally from Scotland, but who grew up and was educated in France, has had a long and varied career in the golf industry.

With a degree in Architecture from Edinburgh University, Andrews’ career commenced as a golf course architect in 1987. From there he went into the golf course construction side of the business, working with Southern Golf throughout the 1990’s. Following that Andrew experienced project management with ClubCorp, held a Director of Golf Position with Ritz Carlton in Portugal and more recently a real estate marketing position with the Oceanico Group in the Algarve.

Joining Andrew is Jérôme Querrien who has been appointed Golf Course Superintendent, as well as Rachid Ouchou, who takes up the role of Pre-Opening Manager. Both will be based at the company headquarters at the Casa Green Town Golf Club in Casablanca and will focus on the pre-opening phase as well as assist Braemar Golf Maroc with the Chrifia project in Marrakech, which is still in the construction phase and progressing well.

Jérôme joins from a very successful period with the Polaris World Group in Southern Spain, where he has gained valuable Paspalum turf experience and expertise on two Nicklaus Design projects, which will be vital to both Casa Green Town and Chrifia which are also Paspalum courses. Jerome, from the Ivory Coast originally, worked under the guidance of Sylvain Duval, one of the most respected agronomists in European golf, which has given him a fantastic platform on which to further his career with Braemar Golf Maroc.

Andrew Glen welcomed Jérôme’s arrival to the team stating “Jérôme has worked under one of the best and most respected turf professionals in our business at present and came with his full support which demonstrates his ability. He fits perfectly into what we are trying to achieve with Braemar Golf Maroc and the CGI golf projects, with his mix of construction, grow in and high level of maintenance that he has displayed in Spain. We know he will deliver excellent presentation standards for the fantastic Jeremy Pern design at Casa Green Town, to standards not delivered before in the Casablanca market”

Rachid Ouchou is a Moroccan national and Andrew Glen commented “One of our key objectives of the partnership is to assist in the development of Moroccan commercial golf management talent and we are delighted to have Rachid on board at such an early stage in our business”. Rachid is originally from Casablanca but spent 12 years in the United States with Microsoft where he was involved in business strategy, project management and managing sales teams. Since returning to Morocco, Rachid has set up his own golf business, assisting manufacturers, suppliers and some major names in the golf industry gain traction in Morocco. Rachid brings an in depth knowledge of the local corporate and golf market of Morocco as well as a wealth of commercial management expertise.

Keith Haslam, the Managing Director of Braemar Golf said “we are delighted to have someone of Andrew’s experience on board and his contribution to date has been significant. The variety of work that we will be undertaking in Morocco requires someone with Andrew’s specific skills set and of course his fluent French language skills are essential to doing business in Morocco. Andrew is developing his own regional team and we are thrilled with the experience, skills and personality that Jérôme and Rachid bring.”

Andrew went on to say “Casa Green Town and Chrifia have the potential to become some of the best golf experiences in Morocco and is hopefully just the start of the projects we will be involved in. We will also have a remit to help grow the game of golf in Morocco as well as help it achieve its vision of being an international golf tourism destination, which it has all the ingredients to be.”
