Morocco has sent a humanitarian aid to Guinea-Bissau, local media reported on Thursday.

According to the Moroccan daily Le Matin, this humanitarian aid consists of important basic foodstuffs.

This humanitarian donation aims to help local people during the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, the same source said.

This initiative is in line with Morocco’s solidarity with friendly countries, the source saying, adding that it is also a part of the humanitarian support of Morocco to Guinea-Bissau and the strengthening of “long-standing relations of friendship, fraternity and solidarity with this country of West Africa.”

The relations between the two countries witnessed a particular impetus with the historic visit made by King Mohammed VI in May 2015 to Guinea-Bissau.

After the visit, Morocco set up a military field hospital in Guinea-Bissau. This facility offers services in various specialities.
