Morocco’s consumer price inflation rose to an annual 2.4 percent in July from 2 percent in June as food prices soared, the High Planning Authority said on Wednesday.

Food inflation was up to 3.8 percent from 2.5 percent in the 12 months to June. Non-food price inflation eased to 1.3 percent after rising 1.5 percent in the previous month.

Transport costs fell 2.7 percent, while housing was 4.9 percent more expensive, the agency said, without elaborating.

On a month-on-month basis, the consumer price index edged up 0.5 pct in July from 0.1 percent in June. The food price index rose 1.2 percent on the month.
