Major US and international media outlets write about Morocco’s parliamentary elections, which took place on Friday, November 25th, across the Kingdom. Based on media reports, the Moroccan government confirmed Saturday that the moderate Islamist Justice and Development Party (PJD) wonFriday’s parliamentary elections. The party captured 80 seats in the 395-seat assembly – the most of any party – in Friday’s polls, according to provisional results announced by Morocco’s Interior Minister Taib Cherkaoui.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton congratulated Morocco and its people on the successful completion of Friday’s parliamentary elections, where millions of Moroccans went to the polls to elect their new political leaders. In a public statement, she urged King Mohammed VI and the newly elected parliament to work together in order to implement the amended constitution as a step toward fulfilling the aspirations and rights of all Moroccans.
