Rabat  –  Moroccan foreign minister Saad El Din Otmani and his Czech counterpart, Karel Schwarzenberg, discussed, Thursday in Rabat, ways and means of consolidating political and economic relations between the two countries.

El Otmani welcomed, in a statement to the press after the meeting, the excellent ties between the two countries and called for them to be further developped, in particular bilateral cooperation within international and regional organizations towards “the adoption of a rich programme of political cooperation.”

He expressed the joint willingness to promote economic exchanges by intensifying meetings between the ministers of tourism, trade and industry in both countries, setting up a Moroccan-Czech business council and promoting contacts between economic operators.

Schwarzenberg pointed out that the two countries have long-standing relations and a good level of cooperation, noting that relations with the Kingdom are important to his country, given that Morocco is a non-permanent member on the UN Security Council and considering its advanced status with the European Union.
