Morocco a perfect travel destination for families
Morocco is one of those African countries which is considered a complete vacation destination for families. It has everything to offer from rich culture, amazing cuisines, mesmerizing natural beauty, friendly and welcoming locals to great beaches. In morocco, you can experience an exotic mixture of African, Mediterranean, Andalucían and Berber cultures.
You can travel into the Sahara desert to explore the desert life or you can just enjoy the serenity of the world, lying down in peacefully in kasbahs high up in the Atlas Mountains. The bazaars of Marrakesh are a main source of attraction for tourists as well. Here are some of the things you should definitely do on your Moroccan family holiday;
Explore the local Souks:
Morocco has a maze of buoyant souks which are always crowded and has a charm of old Arabian tales. The most famous ones are the souks of Marrakesh. The stalls are full of handmade carpets, spices, brightly dyed slippers and everything else you can think of. With the help of a guide you can easily visit pottery workshops, handmade carpet knitting units, leather dyers and metalworkers, which can be a whole new kind of learning experience for your kids which they can’t have back at home. While visiting souks always wear comfortable shoes because you have to wander a lot here, and there are always chances of getting lost but you can easily find your way out while exploring these amazing souks.
Visiting the Atlas Mountains:
You can easily reach the foothills of the Atlas Mountains by taking an hour’s drive from Marrakesh. The highest peak in the Atlas range is Jebel Toubkal. You can go gorging the pristine mountains of the Atlas range and while visiting the Atlas Mountains you should try to blend in with the locals i.e. Berbers and the best way of doing so is by staying with them. The Berbers are an old native tribe of Morocco which have been living in this region before the arrival of the romans. They live in adobe styled houses and have a very traditional way of life. The people are extremely welcoming and they will treat you with their world famous mint tea, homemade breads, olive oil and hard boiled eggs.
Enjoy the Camel ride in the Sahara:
While you are in Morocco you should definitely visit the Dades Valley, which is formed by the erosion of Dades River.It is also known as Todra gorge. This place is full of gorgeous geology and is a splendid sight to see like a huge canyon of orange limestone. You can enjoy the camel rides into the Sahara desert from Rissani; which is a small desert trading town. Or you can go exploring the desert gorges on your feet with a local guide because it will be unfamiliar terrain for you.
Essaouira:
Essaouria is a port city in Morocco which has some of the most fascinating beaches in the region. The literal meaning of Essaouira in Arabic is ‘little picture’, this small sea town is the dream location of every painter. With its vibrantly blue and white colored medina it gives a fairytales feeling to the visitors. You can enjoy world class wind surfing here. The food over here is the best, you get fresh seafood which the fishermen sell directly from their boats. You can also get your kids to take kite surfing lessons from the Kite CentreEssaouira. There are many water sports for children on the beach of Essaouira where they can enjoy.
The blue village of Chefchaouen:
The Chefchaouen is a small village in Morocco which is famous for its blue color. It is situated in the high Rif Mountains of Morocco and has a very calming and soothing effect on the viewers. The whole village is painted in hues of blue. The Chefchaouen’s medina is a sight worth seeing. The village is said to be initially painted blue by the Jewish refugees from Europe, who arrived here during the 1930s. There are stories famous for this blue color according to some people the Jews painted the city walls blue to symbolize it as heaven while the other story says that they were painted blue to keep the mosquitos away. Whatever the reason must be, it is due to this blue paint the town become famous as “the blue pearl”. The people of Chefchaouen keeps its tradition alive by painting there tiled houses in blue shades every year. Due to the difficult terrain of this small town it is still kept as a deep secret of Morocco. This town can be accessed by taking a bus from Casablanca or Fez. Along the narrow mountains the blue town appears as a fantasy to the approaching visitors.
Casablanca:
Casablanca is one of the largest cities in Morocco facing the Atlantic Ocean. Casablanca is the city for tourists who want to have true Moroccan experience. Casablanca will make you feel like a local and you can learn about the present as well as the past of the Moroccan history. There are many architectural sites worth visiting in Casablanca like the Hassan II Mosque; which is the largest mosque in Morocco. The palm lined Mohammed V Boulevard in the heart of old Casablanca, which is a testimony of the old French influence in the region. Many other worth watching architectural and historical sites are:Cinema Rialto, Mahkama du Pacha, Eglis du Sacre-Couer and EglisNotre Damedu Lourdes.

Moroccan culture is very family oriented. Due to this, Moroccans love children and your children can easily mix-up with the Moroccan families.
