Moroccan Inflation Eases to 0.1 pct In September

Morocco’s consumer price inflation eased to an annual 0.1 percent in September, from 0.3 pct in August, as food prices fell, the High Planning Authority said on Wednesday.

The food price index dropped 2.3 percent in the 12 months through September. Non-food prices rose 2.1 percent on the year, after increasing 2.2 percent in August.

Health expenses fell 1.1 percent while water and electricity costs rose 4.6 percent as the government started to cut subsidies.

On a month-on-month basis, the consumer price index rose 0.1 percent in September after rising 0.6 percent in August.

The food price index fell 0.3 percent on the month and non-food prices rose 0.5 percent.
