Rabat – The members of a network of drug traffickers operating in several Moroccan cities had contacts with some elements of the security services, the Interior Ministry said on Thursday in a statement.
“Within the framework of investigations conducted by the Royal Gendarmerie on a network of drug traffickers operating in several Moroccan cities, information showed that the network’s members had contacts with some elements of the security services,” the source said.
“The said elements ensured protection for the ring’s members who were dealing in drug trafficking and illegal immigration,” the source added, noting that most of these traffickers are wanted for gang formation and international drug trafficking.
People involved in this case will be brought before justice after completion of the probe under the supervision of the public prosecutor.
