Rabat – A group of young Sahrawis are staging a sit-in in front of the headquarters of the High Commissioner for Refugees in the vicinity of Tindouf, southwestern Algeria, to protest against abuses perpetrated in the camps.

In a statement a copy of which was obtained by MAP on Wednesday, the group urged the international community to take note of the abuses perpetrated against the population of the camps, including slavery, nepotism, corruption, torture, trial of innocent people and profiteering.

The group accused Algeria of connivance with polisario which “takes into account only its interests and the interests of those it serves.”

The youths called on humanitarian organisations to intercede with Algeria and polisario towards ending injustice against the population of the camps.
