Rabat – Foreign Minister Saad Eddine El Othmani said that his visit on Friday to Spain will be aimed at examining a new contractual framework with Madrid and the EU with a view to establishing ” a common economic space that goes beyond the advanced partnership between the two parties.”

The government is set to reinforce cooperation with Spain in the fields of economic cooperation and foreign policy, El Othmani told the daily paper, Assahara Al Maghribia.

He stressed that Morocco is committed to a policy of openness in its international relations. This approach, he explained, is geared towards promoting political, economic and cultural cooperation.

In this connection, El Othmani expressed Morocco’s willingness to sign new agreements with Spain.

“This visit is part of the consolidation of the process of the ongoing consultation meetings between the two countries’ senior officials in order to assess political relations, inject new momentum into economic cooperation and boost the climate of confidence and mutual respect marking the strategic partnership between the two countries,” Morocco’s Foreign Ministry had said in a communiqué adding he will be received by King Juan Carlos of Spain at the Zarzuela Palace and that he will meet with Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and Parliament Speaker Jesus Posada.
