The UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances will hold its 108th session in Rabat, Morocco, from 8 to 12 February 2016. It is the second time that the Working Group holds a session in Morocco, at the invitation of the Government.

During its session, the Group – composed of five independent experts – will examine almost 600 cases from 43 countries. It will also meet relatives of those who have disappeared, civil society representatives and State authorities from different countries, to exchange information on individual cases as well as to discuss thematic issues related to enforced disappearances.

The Working Group will also hold at the margin of the session an expert meeting on enforced disappearances and non-state actors.

The Working Group will, in addition, examine allegations received regarding obstacles encountered in the implementation of the Declaration on the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance*.

The Working Group’s 108th session is held in private. A press conference, whose details will follow, will be held at the end of the session, on 12 February 2016.
