EBRD Loans Morocco’s Electricity Facility 65 Mln Euros, Statement

Rabat – The Moroccan electricity and drinking water facility (ONEE) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed, on Wednesday in Rabat, a loan contract for 65 million euros, said a statement by the ONEE.
The project is aimed at reinforcing drinking water supply in the cities of Ouarzazate and Benguerir, as well as fostering access to drinking water in 260 rural centers in the province of Azilal for the benefit of over 480,000 inhabitants, it added.
The project also includes a component seeking the implementation of a program of improving performances related to drinking water distribution and production structures, according to the same source.
In addition to the loan, the Bank will mobilize a 4.5 mln euro-grant to fund the technical assistance.
