Cairn Energy Signs Further Exploratio​n Deal And Begins Drilling In Morocco

LONDON (Alliance News) – Cairn Energy PLC Monday said it has signed a further exploration deal in Morocco and has started drilling operations on an exploration well off the Moroccan coast.

The oil and gas exploration company said it has entered into a farm-in agreement with Kosmos Energy and the Moroccan National Oil Company for a 20% non-operated interest in an exploration block offshore North West Africa. (more…)

ACWA Power selects GCube, Munich Re for risk transfer solution for Noor 1 CSP plant in Morocco



ACWA Power has selected GCube Insurance Services and Munich Reinsurance (Munich Re) to provide specialist insurance and risk management services for Noor 1 concentrated solar power (CSP) project in Morocco.

The company has appointed Marsh’s Renewable Energy and Power Practice as the insurance adviser and placement broker.

Munich Re and GCube are leading the Marsh-designed integrated policy, which covers a 28-month construction period and one year after completion (operational phase). Together the companies provide 50% of the risk capacity. (more…)

Gulfsands Begins Drilling Well In Northern Morocco

Gulfsands Petroleum Plc provided an update on its activities that are currently under way in Morocco, according to a company press release.

Drilling operations on the Al Krima 1 well (AKR-1) located within the Rharb Centre Permit in northern Morocco have now commenced using the recently imported COFOR SAS rig. The AKR-1 well is the first of nine wells to be drilled on the Rharb permits in two back-to-back drilling programs, according to the release. (more…)

A Moroccan court on Friday jailed a teenager for three months for threatening to kill US President Barack Obamaon Twitter, judicial sources said.

The 17-year-old identified as Soufiane I, pleaded guilty at a Casablanca court to “electronic crimes” and “calling for violence via electronic media”, after posting the death threat last year. (more…)
