Indonesia Supports Morocco In Western Sahara Issue



Peoples Consultative Assembly (MPR) Speaker Zulkifli Hasan has stated that Indonesia supports Morocco in the Western Sahara issue involving separatist activities.

“Indonesia supports Morocco in the Western Sahara issue,” Zulkifli Hasan said here on Friday.

The MPR Speaker received Moroccan Ambassador to Indonesia Mohamed Majdi in Jakarta. Among other topics, they also talked about the issue of Western Sahara. (more…)

Moroccans will go to the ballot boxes this June for local elections [AFP/Abdelhak Senna]

Young Moroccans now have until mid-February to get their name on the electoral lists for June’s local polls.

Morocco’s extension of the voter registration deadline is a godsend for political parties.

The political groups are working with organisations for youth to encourage people to register before the new deadline is reached on February 19th.

The government is also doing whatever it can to boost voter registration and turnout for the June 2015 communal elections. (more…)

Gulfsands Complete Morocco Testing

Middle East and North Africa-focused Gulfsands Petroleum said Wednesday that gas well testing on its Dardara Southeast 1 discovery well (DRC-1) on the Rharb Centre Permit in northern Morocco has been concluded and the well suspended as a future gas production well.

Reporting a corporate update, Gulfsands said that during an eight-hour test of DRC-1 the gas flow rate reached 9.4 million ft3 of gas per day on a 40/64-inch choke with no associated production of formation water or sand. (more…)

Court Jails Four Militants In Morocco

A COURT in an unspecified location in Morocco on 25 September sentenced four alleged militants – identified as Soufiane KH, Omar D, Rabii R., and Houssine B. – to prison terms between three and five years on terrorism charges, MAP reported. The defendants were convicted of forming a criminal gang to prepare and commit terrorist attacks, belonging to a banned religious group, and apology of terrorism.
